Natsu and lucy

Oh yeah dude.

Listen the guy is literally forced into every single arc even though when you look at it in the grand scheme of things he never had a role to play or a place to be. Just look at Tartaros, he got so much screen time in that arc even though he literally did nothing. 

He was first a try-hard villain whom the creator then decided to bring back for some reason. But instead of giving him an actual good redemption arc they just say ”Oh he was possessed and now he has memory loss”.

This hurts the story especially bad because Fairy Tail is actually great at redemption arcs. Laxus, Gajeel and Ultear all had good to amazing redemption arcs. So not only is Jellal’s entire story and existance poorly written, but you know the creator can and has done better jobs at making ”redeemed characters”.

People say he helped Fairy Tail before and during the Grand Magic Games. But A, it was Ultear who unlocked everyones magic potential. And B, he literally contributed nothing to any meaningfull battle.

He’s a character who the plot tries so desperately to seem cool and badass. But all he comes across as is a try-hard, simp whom steals the show from other (better) characters. You could literally let him die at the tower of heaven and nothing would change, except Natsu eating the gold fire but that is SO EASILY fixable.

Jellal is like a parasite clinging to the story, refusing to let go. And he’s a parasite to Erza’s badassery and her entire character. So many times when she is being an absolute godlike warrior and fighting or doing somthing in that style, they cut to him for some god-knows reason. And he is always clinging to her like a damn dog. He’s a dog following her and the whole story of Fairy Tail on a leash ’cause they for some reason just can’t let him go even though he sucks.
